Ted Lasso is coming to a game console near you via FIFA 23

Ted Lasso tells the story of an American football manager who moves to the UK to take charge of a struggling football team (AFC Richmond). The series premiered in August 2020 on Apple TV.

In Career Mode, fans of Jason Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso will be able to use him as a manager, and players of all skill levels can play as the Richmond Kickers in Online Seasons, Online Friendlies and Kickoffs on line. Additionally, EA adds that “a number of AFC Richmond items including Kits, Tifos, Manager items and other content will also be available to unlock in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) and Pro Clubs, if applicable”.

You can find Richmond in the Rest of the Game World section when playing Kick Off, Online Friendlies, or Online Seasons, as you might expect, as they are not a team of the Premier League.. The team will feature made-up names like Roy Kent and Jamie Tartt and real names like Sam Obisanya and Dani Rojas, and the stadium will be called Nelson Road.

Is Ted Lasso only played virtually?

This begs the question of Ted and AFC Richmond’s role in the action in FIFA 23. It really seems unlikely. After all, AFC Richmond does not exist. However, its players could find a place in FIFA Ultimate Team.

Some players were able to play FIFA 23 earlier this month due to a preload error, although the game was not officially released until September 30, 2022.
