sound borders on the Switch might not be truly “next-gen” but according to Takashi Iizuka, that’s nothing to worry about.

Speaking to Gamereactor, the Sonic Team boss explained how Sega wanted to give Switch fans the “same experience” as gamers on other platforms, including “high-end” PCs.

The Hedgehog engine the game runs on has been updated several times over the years to make cross-platform development as easy as possible for Sonic Team, and while the Switch version doesn’t feature the same “high-end assets range” than these other systems (like PC), it’s still “very comparable”. “Our artists are creating tons of content at very high levels, and if you have this incredible, incredible high-spec PC, that’s great. But we also want to make sure that people who play on the Nintendo Switch experience the same So we’re not necessarily using the same high-end assets, but the Hedgehog Engine is able to scale it down to a size where it’ll be very comparable on a Nintendo Switch, like on a high-end PC.

Previous reports suggest Sonic Frontiers will target 30fps and 720p resolution on the Nintendo Switch. Will you be adding this version to your game library? Comments below.
