The Pokémon Sword & Shield – Lost Origin expansion is now available for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, with plenty of new cards to play with. To help players, the Pokémon Company has shared a new article with strategy tips for one of these cards in particular: Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR. Ancient Zoroark cards were known as major powers in the game, and it seems Hisuian Zoroark is no exception.
It’s reminiscent of Zoroark-GX in that it can attack for two Colorless Energy with damage based on the number of Pokemon on your side of the field. He also has a powerful ability – this time a VSTAR power – that draws extra cards.
It may seem difficult at first to distribute the damage counters on your side of the field, but it is necessary if you want to increase the damage of Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR’s Ticking Curse attack. However, look no further than these additional cards to help you out: Gengar and Damage Pump from Sword & Shield—Lost Origin, and Gapejaw Bog from Sword & Shield—Astral Radiance. All three provide effective ways to lightly damage your Pokémon, although realistically you’ll need six damaged Pokémon in play to pick up Knock Outs against Pokémon VSTAR and VMAX. This means you’ll need to carefully plan when you place Pokémon on your Bench.
