Modern Warfare 2 crossplay will ruin the game

With Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2The beta is now over, fans are waiting for the game to officially release – but as anticipation grows, an important part of the game is also getting worried: crossplay. With competitive PvP modes, the slightest advantage can mean the difference between an exhilarating death and a raging death. As players excitedly prepare to take to the battlefield, some are scrutinizing the unfair advantages – and disadvantages – that can impact gameplay due to cross-play features.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Call of Duty The series has been no stranger to cross-platform compatibility in recent years. It was first introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and it’s been baked into every game since then, so it’s no surprise that the next title in the franchise will also include full cross-play and cross-progression. According to the overview offered by modern warfare 2it is beta, it looks like these crossplay features will be enabled by default. Players will be able to play the game on Steam, Battle.net, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

While PC gamers might not care, some console gamers have expressed their hesitation. It’s common knowledge that using a mouse and keyboard naturally allows for more precise movement and control, which in most cases gives PC gamers an edge over controller gamers. So when it comes to modern warfare 2console gamers may face an inherently more difficult experience.

Crossplay is negatively impacting console players in MW2

Moreover, it is much more common to encounter cheaters on PC platforms than anywhere else. In fact, they made their presence known immediately in the beta, with a surprising amount of modern warfare 2 beta players using hacks, such as aimbots or wallhacks. While this issue is likely to be resolved with high priority, some cheaters may still be able to sneak past. This puts console players at an even greater disadvantage – a disadvantage they unfortunately have no real way to counter.

With that in mind, players using console rigs may not wish to play with the PC playerbase. Crossplay can be disabled, but since it’s enabled by default, many players might not be aware of this option and will therefore keep it. Also, it seems that players are not able to specifically choose which platforms they would like to play on or not. This means that they must either queue exclusively with their own platform or with all platforms. It also means that those who disable crossplay to avoid PC players with an unfair advantage may face longer wait times due to a limited player pool – as well as being unable to play with cross-platform friends.

With a large part of Call of DutyWith the player base being console users, the implications of cross-play on the competitive integrity of the game cannot be ignored. With the full game slated for release on October 28, all fans can do right now is wait. But I hope that soon all players will be able to enjoy Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2regardless of their platform.
