Here are the best deals we can find in Game Collection’s mid-term sale.

shiny pearl pokemon

Nintendo has a reputation for never really releasing its first games. While the eShop sees tons of indie sales and small price cuts for big games, it’s rare to see their heavy hitters with deep discounts.

Calling it a welcome but low-key remaster in our preview of the game, Pokemon Shining Pearl makes significant changes to the game’s aesthetic while keeping the story and Pokemon intact. If you’re looking for a way to relive your childhood, this is a great, inexpensive way to do it.

At £20 cheaper than the eShop, this is a great opportunity to pick up the game for under £30. Given Nintendo’s track record, we can’t see that dropping anytime soon.

Soul Hackers 2

Being one of the newer games on this entire list, Soul Hackers 2 launched in August. The closest obvious comparison being Persona, it manages to strike a very unique tone and aesthetic. If you like turn-based combat, well-developed characters, and Cyberpunk, this is worth picking up.

Taking a darker, more supernatural twist on the Atlus formula, this massive RPG will keep you busy for up to 50 hours, with side content, a great story, and characters to level up. Being a sequel to Sega Saturn’s 1997 game Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, you don’t need to play the first game to get everything you need from this story.

Scarlet Nexus

If you’re looking for an RPG but don’t want the distinctive charm of an Atlus game, Scarlet Nexus is an often overlooked JRPG from 2021. As one of the cheapest games on this list, the value that you get for your money is fantastic. With dozens of hours of gameplay, striking aesthetics, and a captivating story, there’s a lot to love here.

Taking you through the lives of two related characters, Scarlet Nexus describes itself as a “Brank Punk” game and its unique blend of body horror and sci-fi backs it up. If you want a game about battling the deepest parts of people’s psyches, this is a phenomenal choice.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising

Taking a bit of Breath of the Wild and mixing it with this classic open-world formula from Ubisoft, Immortals Fenyx Rising is a fun adventure through the era of the Greek gods. As Fenyx, you learn great powers and traverse an impossible land filled with impossible creatures.

While you can get it for a decent price all year round, we’re paying special attention to the PS5 version of the game, which is the cheapest we’ve seen and is almost 50% cheaper than Amazon. While you can choose to purchase the season pass and DLC, the game still has tons of content on disc and plenty to explore. If you liked Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s selling point but wanted it to get a little more unreal, it’s worth a look.

game builder garage

Game Builder Garage is one of the most interesting first-party Nintendo games of recent years. A game about making games – its appeal is something you only really get when you try it for yourself. It’s designed to be an accessible entry into video game design but, with tons of games to try, you can play it however you see fit.

While it’s never been a hugely expensive game, it’s been the cheapest for some time (£5 cheaper than Amazon), giving you access to a whole community of ideas and collaborations for a fraction of the price of a new game. If you feel like getting creative, this is the one for you.
